Kong-Sugihara GDD Plate Guide Hook

Engineered Precision for Seamless Plate Insertion

Co-designed by glaucoma surgeons, the Kong-Sugihara GDD Plate Guide Hook solves one of the most technically challenging steps in Glaucoma Drainage Device (GDD) or tube shunt surgery: inserting the plate beneath extraocular muscles.

This specialized muscle hook features a fin-like Guiding Segment that creates a smooth path into the space under the muscle, eliminating the need for aggressive muscle tenting.

S-154  Kong-Sugihara GDD Plate Guide Hook

Simply hook the muscle with the Guide Hook, place the plate between the Guiding Segment and the sclera, and the instrument will guide the plate smoothly under the muscle. The Guiding Segment also keeps Tenon’s capsule out of the way, ensuring efficient and precise placement while minimizing tissue trauma. Compatible with Baerveldt, PAUL, Ahmed ClearPath, and similar GDDs, this instrument brings ease, precision, and confidence to GDD implantation.

1. Use a hook to identify the lateral rectus muscle.

2. Use the fin-like guiding segment on the hook to slide and insert the plate.

3. Slide and insert the other wing under the fin of the hook as well.
